Corran Properties has been tasked, by our client Schroders Capital Real Estate, with the responsibility to breathe new life into the former Scottish Widows HQ building in Edinburgh.
Our planning application was submitted in September 2022 as the culmination of 3 years of careful study, analysis and public consultation. The proposal involves reducing the size of the existing building from 200,000 sq ft to 130,000 sq ft (NIA) and bringing it up to the highest environmental and wellbeing standards to meet future Net Zero Carbon benchmarks.
The remainder of the 6 acre site will accommodate stunning new residential buildings, comprising 194 units (of which 35% will be affordable housing). All this, set within an enhanced landscape setting. The guiding principle throughout has been to thoroughly understand and respect the important heritage designations of this Category A listed building.
